Our Sun:
The sun is a star that is 4.6 billion years old and it is at the heart of our solar system. The sun is a hot ball of gas made up of 92.1% hydrogen and 7.8% heium and the temperature of the sun’s core is about 15 million degrees Celsius. This extreme heat radiates energy and heat to our planet Earth, which makes life on Earth possible.
The sun has a mass that makes up 99.8% of the entire solar system, if we were to scale the sun to be the size of a regular size front door then Earth would be about the size of a $2 coin. Eight planets orbit the sun, this occurs because of gravitational forces. The planets that orbit the sun include: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
