Measuring in space:
When we are measuring distances in our Solar System, we use Astronomical Units (AU). One AU is the distance between the Sun and the Earth, which is approximately 150 million km. Using Astronomical Units is an appropriate form of measurement in space, as using kilometres can become hard to work with.
Using AU we are able to measure the distances between planets, moons, stars and other bodies in space.
